Pick your picnic spot
Maybe you’ve already got a go-to location that you don’t waiver from, but if you are looking to try somewhere new, we've asked our team for their recommendations to give you some ideas.
“For my fellow Melbourne folks I have to go for Abbotsford Convent or Yarra Bend Park – plenty of lovely green spaces and some really nice walks to explore too. If I’m able to go, I also love anywhere in the Dandenong Ranges for some country air!”
- Annie - Customer Service team member, Melbourne
“So many to choose from but one of my favourite spots is Mrs Herbert’s Park in Claremont, also love Floreat Beach Park and anywhere on Rottnest.”
- Kate - Business Development Manager, Perth
“We like to go to the Wentworth falls picnic area in the Blue Mountains National Park. After we eat, we go for a walk to the waterfall. It is so peaceful, and the view is amazing. I have been going there since I was around 9 years old, so for me it was keeping a part of my childhood alive with my kids.”

Know your audience
Who’s invited? Will there be little ones that will benefit from some games to play and tire themselves out with, or is it grownups only meeting up for an al-fresco G&T? The former may not be our area of expertise, but if it’s the latter, we’ve got you covered. Shop our Australian Gin Hampers here.
Best picnic food ideas and what to avoid
Tupperware full of leafy salads that will wilt in the sun and be unappetising and ultimately shunned by your picnic guests are not on the menu. Pick a theme - maybe a cheese platter or an afternoon tea –
and pack your picnic accordingly. Let us take the stress out of packing the perfect picnic with our hamper recommendations.
Just pick your favourite cheeses to pair with our Cheeseboard Celebration hamper and you’re ready to go, or, if you fancy something sweet, try our range of Brownie hampers, which are available with a choice of wines and champagnes. Shop our Gourmet Food Hampers here.
Pack your picnic in style
What is a picnic without the perfect picnic basket to stash all your goodies in! We have searched high and low to help you find the picnic basket of your dreams. Whether it’s classic wicker all the way, something a bit more cool and quirky or practicality above all else, check out our top tips!
The all-in-one
What more could you ask for? This fantastic offering from Wheel & Barrow comes complete with plates, cutlery, wine glasses and even an included cooler bag, so it has never been easier (or looked better) to have all your picnic essentials in one place.
The must-have
Ok so technically not a picnic basket, but essential? We would say so. Temple and Webster have an excellent range of portable picnic tables, complete with spots to hold your glasses, or even your bottles. You wont catch us picnicking without one.
The multi-tasker
A hamper with a difference! We love this option from Sunnylife – not only does it look oh-so-cool, it also doubles as a portable speaker! Simply plug in your phone or connect via Bluetooth and enjoy your choice of tunes for the ultimate soundtrack to your picnic. Honestly, we’re just annoyed we didn’t think of this first.
Remember the essentials
It's never a given, but we'd certainly hope that the sun would be shining all day, so make sure you remember your sunscreen, water, your esky and a bag to collect your rubbish in so you leave your chosen picnic spot in the same condition that you found it.
